Butterhorns

2 cups scalded and then cooled milk
1 cup butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp salt
1/2 cup water with 2 tbsp yeast and 2 tsp sugar
3 beaten eggs
3 1/2 cups flour

Only make 1 batch. 1 batch makes 4 dozen.
Mix ingredients together then add 3 1/2 more cups flour and mix.  Allow to rise and when doubled form into balls and place on a greased pan. Bake at 375 for 15-20 minutes. Allow to cool and then ice.

Icing recipe:
1 cup butter with a little milk
1 tsp vanilla
4-5 cups icing sugar

Garlic aioli sauce

Today I made garlic aioli sauce to drizzle on our Vietnamese pizza.
3/4 cup mayo
1/2 tsp pepper
1 tbsp garlic powder 
2 1/2 tbsp lemon juice

Mix and let it sit in the fridge for 30 min before serving.

Hummus pitas

Use the hummus recipe on this blog.
Cook 1 lb ground meat with 1 can drained black beans.  Spread meat/bean mixture on the pita on top of the hummus.  Then sprinkle with cheese and bake for 5-7 min.  This is delicious served with sour cream. 



Herbed hummus dip

1 can drained chickpeas
3 tbsp each water and lemon juice
2 tbsp mayo or miracle whip
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp dill
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp parsley 
2 cloves minced garlic
I green onion chopped (opp)
Mix in a food processor. Makes 2 cups and stores 3-5 days. 




Grandma Orr brownies

1 cup butter or margarine
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
2-3 tbsp cocoa
2 cups flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla

Mix and bake at 350 in a 9 by 13 pan for 45 minutes. 


Chewy double chocolate chip cookies

1 1/4 cup butter or margarine
2 cups sugar can replace with stevia (bake the same amount of time, the cookies come out way less flat but taste good)
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
3 cups flour
1/3 cup cocoa powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup chocolate chips

Mix and bake at 350 for 12 min. Yields 4 dozen cookies.

Blueberry bran muffins

3 cups bran soaked in
2 cups milk
1 cup apple sauce
2 eggs
1 1/3 cup brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
2 cups blueberries (I use frozen)
Mix together and bake at 350 for 25 min for regular sized muffins
Yields 24 muffins
